NEOMONDO SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
SUSTAINABILITY
Since our launch in 2016 we have become increasingly concerned about the social and environmental responsibilities we have as manufacturers. From 2018 we started a major project to ensure that we reduce the negative impact we have on animals, people, and the planet. We are very proud to say that by 2022, 90% of the materials used in our collection are certified. All Neomondo products meet EU and Norwegian requirements settled in various directives and regulations and meets general product safety requirements.
ANIMAL WELFARE
From summer 2022 all wool products from Neomondo are traceable with Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) certificate. This ensures that the wool is traced all the way back to the farm, animal welfare, preserving land health and protecting social welfare for the workers. From winter 2022 all down products are traceable with Responsible Down Standard (RDS) certificate. RDS follow the strict guidelines for ensuring animal welfare, which includes no live-plucking or force-feeding.
SYNTHETIC FABRICS
We use mostly synthetic materials to create the Neomondo collection. This is because they last longer and are durable to weather and a wide range of activities. We are aware of the negative effect oil-based materials have on the environment and have therefore moved most of our synthetics over to recycled options. We are currently working on updating product specific information and hangtags so it’s easier for customers to find what certifications each of our products have. This will be in store from summer 2022.
DWR and WATER REPELLENT TREATMENTS
All products with water repellent treatment are PFC free. This means we do not use per- and poly-fluorinated chemicals in our water repellent coatings. PFC´s does not break down (or breaks down very slowly) in the environment or if absorbed by humans. If humans are exposed to PFC´s it will build up during they lifetime and may cause health problems.
PRODUCERS AND ETHICAL TRADING
Neomondo products are produced in mainly in China, except for some knitwear produced in Bangladesh. All suppliers follow Ethical trading and are inspected by a 3rd party independent company. The ethical audit is based on ETI base code. It evaluates various aspects like freely chosen employment, freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining, no child labour, no discrimination, no harsh or inhumane treatment, safe and hygienic working conditions, adequate wages. The ethical audits are performed according the SA8000 standard, BSCI or Sedex (SMETA).
